Proud Dad, Happy Kid
« on: March 05, 2012, 11:01:32 AM »
Well, I took the 12 yr old daughter out to see how she liked her new 870 20 gauge. She was all nervous, asking how bad it would kick. I told her not to worry about it, just grip it and rip it....

3 full boxes later, plus a little of another box and she was all smiles. Ended up hitting about 45/80 clays... which I was happy with for her first try with the gun!

:yeah: I'm glad I wasn't there, eating humble pie served up by a 12 year old would just be too hard on my ego. Great job Dad & daughter!

I showed this thread to my 10 yr old daughter last night and she said cool. This morning she asked how old your daughter was and what gauge. I told her and she said well if she can do it, I can too. she had a bad experience at hunters ed when they shot the shot guns, the instructor gave them the gun ( standard size 20 ga) and let er rip. she had a bruise on her bicep for a wk after 5 shots. she a little leary of shot guns now. Your daughter has inspired my daughter and were going shootin this weekend.

Thanks all... Beaming would be an understatement!

She really loves shooting. Now, 66 Timer, I also have a 10 yr old and she will not shoot the 410... she shot it about 5 times one day and quit. She LOVES to shoot the 22 rifle, but that little 410 had "just" enough pop to turn her off. This girl though, put 100 rounds through the 410 the day the 10 yr old wouldn't... I dont know?? Different strokes for different folks.

This 870 has a real nice recoil pad. She said she never even noticed it kicking.

She has to lean back to counter balance the gun.... she's a little thing!

Great pics man.  That kid can shoot!  I recently took my 14 year old son shooting clays.  Gave him a few pointers & he schooled me.  Looks like your daughter is already showing most of us how it's done!
