In the areas I hunt they live to a ripe old age and die of natural causes.

I dunno.  Sometimes I try to expedite their deaths, though.  I can be pretty expedient but I'd guess that the deer drag their feet a bit when it comes to getting shot.

I believe they can live 20 to 30 years, but normally I think 15 is about max.

I shot a blacktail buck a couple years back in OR.  He was old and antlers definitely regressing.  Your required to submit teeth on this hunt and it came back aged at 6-1/2yrs.  He was listed in the top 10% age class for all buck teeth that were submitted.  I've talked to a couple bios in that region and they say a buck's typical life expectancy is 6-7yrs and does 9 to 11.

3 to 5 years when heavily hunted, 9 to 10 years "natural deaths" and up to 17 - 20 years in captivity.

The Googles, which my computer is equipped with, is excellent for finding this type of information.

I was always told that from 9-11 years because at the rate their teeth wear down that they'd starve to death around that age.

I've shot a couple does that were aged at 7 1/2 years, I would bet many bucks don't live that long.

Yes, my new computer came with The Googles installed on it.  I think you have to buy a new one to get it.

For the uninformed, The Googles is just another name for the internets.  So, basically, when you buy a new computer it comes with the internets but it's just called The Googles.  I think it's probably something like calling tissues "Kleenex".  Technically a brand name but everyone knows what they are.

My new computer is called Gateway, is painted like a cow, and has a Turbo button on the front.  It also says "486" which I think means that it has 486 The Googles installed on it (or 486 internets for those non-technical people out there.)

Yeah, you pretty much need to be a techy to get it.  Just clickety-click the blue E.  I don't know why The Googles starts with a blue E, but whatever.

I had one blacktail buck come through the shop that was 10 1/2 yrs old. Sent the tooth in to have it aged, so it's accurate. I have a client that him and his buddies send the teeth of their animals in every year. He killed a mule deer that was 9 1/2 that same year. These two deer were the oldest they had ever sent in, I think 7 1/2 was the oldest before these two. I think they had had some elk up into the 20's years of age.
We give your trophy that final compliment!

LOL Teenage KILLER

I understand  :chuckle: I shot a golden cinnamon 1.5 year Juvenile years ago. They look so big some times. The last one was a Fat 300lb + sow (live weight). She was the oldest and bigest sow I have ever shot 19 year old. Here is a pic of my sow. I don't have many pic's.  I had to cut her up and pack her out by my self. All I had was my cell phone so I didn't take many pic's.

:yeah: I agree. I read that they live 7-yrs +. I think it all depends on weather, food, cover, and predators. My buddys girl shot a very old blktail doe this year. She weighed dressed out at 65lbs. Their was no back straps and the pelvic was poking out. My buddy said later that she didn't have any teeth left. I wish I know how old the blktail doe was. We were hunting a private lot just out of town. I have a pic look how big her body is but the back end is thin. At least she got shot instead of starving.

which one the 1.5 year old or the 19 year old? The 19 year old I didn't take measurement's.  I would say more like 5'-6"+ I don't know.  I am having a 3/4 shoulder mount made. The first pick is a 6' bear killed years ago. The second pic is the skulls of the bruin and sow with a 10g shell. The 3nd is about 3/4's of her in the tailgate of my truck.  :sry: Bad cell phone pic at night and about the fresh skinned whitetail.  I bagged them on the same day and a turkey the next morning. Then 4 day later filled my 2nd deer tag on cypress with a nice 3pt blktail.  2009 season was great.  The fourth pic is a friends Buddy's Big blktail killed in Sultan this year. That's all I know about the deer. I just thought I would share it.
