257 roberts takes another coyote
« on: March 14, 2012, 09:07:41 PM »
Well a buddy and I went out to one of my coyote spots yesterday afternoon and did a little calling, within 20 minutes we had a group of dogs start howling back at us I spotted them about 1/4 mile away on skyline there were 3 of them, I started challenging them and they all started heading our way, so we got all ready to go and we had this heard of deer standing between us and the dogs so it worked perfectly, I just watched the deer and they watched the coyote the whole time all of a sudden there is only one dog sitting about 200 yards from us and hes barking trying to figure out where this dog is (our collar) so we played some barks quietly and here he comes again getting closer and closer then dips off into some thick brush.... crap where did he go, well about 5 minutes goes by and i slowly look over my shoulder behind me and there he is 50 yards away and im facing the wrong way  :bash: he snuck around this ridge and tried winding us, he must not have winded us cause he walked down this draw right in front of me and my partner  bullets started flying, my buddy has a r15 and i have a bolt action im thinking there is no way im going to get this dog well he ended up hitting it in the rear end and it took off in front of this big rock and i let him have it with the 257  :chuckle:
