youth turkey - Central Washington - looking for help
« on: March 15, 2012, 10:07:12 PM »
OK I admit it.

This is my shameless ask.

I'm taking a neighborhood kid on the youth turkey hunt,  and hope to go somewhere in the Cle Elum/Ellensburg/Yamika area,,,,

If anyone happens to be in possession of either private land or good intel on where I might take a kid April 7, I'd sure appreciate a PM (great kid - nonhunting family).    I admit that I haven't been out scouting.......   Life seems to be working for me that way this year.

Thanks in advance,

And for those who feel compelled:   Flame away........    I can take it..........

Good luck. With the snow still coming in I think you will be hard pressed to find many birds on public land that you will be able to access. I am watching the weather close for my sons youth hunt in that one of those areas. Got my fingers crossed but not holding my breath...looks like a later spring hunt will be better. Colockum can be good when the snow is up high......unless you want to snowshoe in I doubt much of the public land up there is accessible bybanything but a snowmobile and snowshoes.  :twocents:

You may want to check with the local game department for any obscure area regs prior to snowmobiling ... I know in western Wa most areas that hold turkeys are gated during spring season to allow uninterrupted breeding and nesting, and absolutely no motor vehicles are allowed including electric bicycles.

Also note that only one turkey may be harvested in Chelan, Kittitas, and Yakima counties combined.

Just saying ....

I just wanted to thank those who helped out via PM.

What a great site.

I've met some quality people on here.

I sure hope to bump into a couple of you out on the youth hunt!

Cheers,

Dan
