Video camera/which one?
« on: March 23, 2012, 02:05:07 AM »
I need to pic up a new camera this year. I have been looking at a couple. I have got it down to 2 of them and I am leaning towards the Panasonic over the Sony. I figured I would ask here and see what you guys have to say. I have run Sony cam's for years and they have been good to me. Here is the 2 models I am looking at, let me know what you think.

Thanks CARP...

I just purchased a Panasonic HDC-SD80 camera and like it so far. I did google the Panasonic that you mentioned and it listed it as Stanard definition which would be enough for me to balk at it. Double check that you are getting an hD camera before you pull the trigger.

Obviously I haven't gotten a lot of use out of my camera yet but just from testing it out it seems great. Really intuitive controls and very small and light weight. I got the version with no built in hard drive because SD cards are really cheap now and the built in har drives tends to really eat up battery life. PM me if you have any questions.

I have one very similar to the Sony that you mentioned. I bought it for an elk hunting trip and it is really nice but did take some practice getting used to all the functions. One thing I really do like is the image stabalizer that makes it much easier when hiking around or riding horses and trying to video.  :twocents:

Have you taken a look at the canon slr's?   The navy seals movie was mostly shot with the 5d mk ii.
Old enough to know better.
Young enough to go for it.
