Is the Knight Disc Extreme Legal in the State of WA?
« on: March 27, 2012, 03:21:31 PM »
I am new to inline muzzle loaders and looking to buy a rifle for this season as my hunting party has decided to all go black powder.  I thought I had narrowed it down to TC Northwest Explorer or the Knight Bighorn, but then I saw quite a bit of chatter about the Knight Disc Extreme.  Is the Disc Extreme (with the #11 nipple) legal in the state of WA?  It appears that the cap is exposed to the elements.  Any information that would help me make a good decision would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  Kevin

Do you have this model?  If so, what do you think about it?

Nice rifle and it is legal.  If hunting during muzzy season thou you need to switch the igniton out for a Western No.11 and musket cap nipple ignition system .

Thanks!!!  Any suggestions (pros/cons) for 50 caliber vs. 52 caliber?  I hunt both elk and deer.

I have the TC NW Explorer and a knight Wolverine. Both are great guns IMO. I'm sure the disc is a nice gun, I've heard alot of good things about it. Knight makes a really solid ml from what iv seen, plus made in USA. For cal I would go 50, the reason being bullet availability and selection.

I would stick with the 50. If you need parts or forget something all your partners are going to probably have 50 gear and accesories.

Personally, the 50 is a much more versitile gun because of sabot and bullet combinations available... with that said I still prefer the 52 for elk and loading down with a 275 grain bullet is great for our Whitetail - not needed for Whitetail - but I really like using it.
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!
