New Remington super Turkey Choke
« on: March 27, 2012, 10:26:57 PM »
I have a Remington 1100 Magnum.  Bought it in 1982.  It came with a fixed full choke barrel.  I have killed several turkeys with it, but was limited to 30-35 yard shots.  Last year I ordered new barre ll for it so I could use different chokes.  The new barre ll is 2 3/4, but that is all I ever use, although the old barre ll would take 3 inch.
A month or so ago I ordered the new 12 ga Remington Super Turkey choke,  I took it out yesterday and set up a Target 45 yards.  I held low as I always do, because shot raises as it goes down range.  Looked at the target, and the pattern was low.   So I think to my self, this maybe a new ball game.  Next shot, both were winchester turkey loads, I held right in the middle of the neck.  The target is one of those that blows out the area the bb hits.  I kid you not, all heck had busted loose from the bottom of the neck to and past the top of the head and all areas in between.  Total devastation.  I got mine from Mack's Prairie Wings.  Had it in less than week.  Want to hop up your Remmie shot gun?  This will do it,  It is for lead only.  I think it was 29.95, plus shipping  I know a 50 yard shot is quite doable.

Sounds good.

Glad the choke is working out, now you don't need to buy those higher priced loads that you were thinking of using.

Got any good turkeys in your yard this year?

Yep.  The turks did real well this winter. Seeing large flocks, and lots of toms.  Want me to put you name tag on one?

I have the Rem super extra full...the i.d. is the same as a modified i.d of a 16 ga. tube!  That is some crazy constriction!  I use true glow rifle sites and somehow the elevation got screwed up...needless to say opening morning I have a tom and 9 hens running towards me from 100+ yards out.  The tom stops 20' in front of me and starts strutting...I aim fire and watch the wad hit him in the head and the ground erupt behind him!  All the other birds take off and he's still standing there with this WTF was that look...needless to say it was quicker to yell "Jon shoot him"...then for me to chamber another round!  The shot column I figure at that distance was maybe 2-4" and so when I got back to camp to adjust my sites I found I was 12" high at 20 yards.  Next shot was at a bird that was less than 15' infront of me...I might as well have had one of those guilotene arrows! :chuckle:
