Thanks, but I see they only let you look at the map if your WILD ID number is one that was drawn for the spring bear permit.

So I can't look at the map.

Man those ak bears sure get big! Those are a couple pretty good videos as well. They use the same ideas that I use to be able to tell a boar from a sow. On the bigger bears the face really tells what they are. The muzzle is a big part of that if it looks like a brick them 99% chance its a boar if it loos tapered and pointed 99% chance it is a sow. I have only seen a couple of big sows that looked close to being a boar. The younger bears are a lot harder to tell. Body structure is better for looking at younger bears. How tall they are at the front shoulder helps a lot. Big bears always look like bull dogs and walk like them and well.

I attached the pdf document that was made available. I'm happy it finally came because now I can at least begin scouting the area as I've never hunted here before.

I should also state the website stated that the areas that are marked as closed on the map, is only to vehicles. You are able to hunt the red areas, you just need to walk in.

i thought the red area was closed (no access)  but im used to hunting on base and where its red you damn sure stay out of
the red dots are where the roads are closed  but you can walk in past them. do have this right ?

I don't know what the correct answer is, I'm new to the area. All I can say is what I read from the link:  http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/bear_cougar/education/blackbear_ed.php

The following is a direct cut and paste from that website:  Lincoln [PDF]  – Hunters should consider the closed areas as closed to motorized access at all times; Weyer haeuser is logging in those closed areas.  However, hunters are allowed to walk-in to the closed areas.

If anyone knows for sure, I would love to know.

The majority of weyco property is under the "dot" system. At each main entry point is a sign with a dot... If red= Closed to motorized public access. Non motorized access allowed.

Also... active logging areas are closed as well. ( no access to areas in vicinity of active operation)

You can only hunt the green area, not the red even walk in.

That's the way I read it too, it's pretty clear. Those must be the areas they are actively logging. Looks like there is plenty of area open to hunting. However I still don't understand why state land isn't included in this hunt.

I also drew this tag.  Anyone know if camping is allowed in the hunting area, I was planning on trying to spend a couple days down there.

No camping allowed on Weyerhaeuser, although every year I see people doing it. 

There is DNR land in the area you could camp on, if you have a Discover pass. Look for the L3000 road off Lincoln Creek Road.

there is camping on the pe ell tree farm you just have to go get the permit.also if you read what the game dept says about the closed areas they are walk in only this year.they used last years map again for this year.

I went out this morning didn't see anyone or any bears. I did find a few old pills and a few new stumps. Still pretty slow. There where a few deer moving 1 doe had twins that couldn't have been more then a day old and a bevar pond full of nutes so I guess it was a good day

In my spot there was a sow with a 2 year old cub, and this guy, but after hunting all spring,    could not even afford to apply this year...
