Use to be that Motor Guide was a superior product in many respects.  From what I've heard recently, they are pretty much equal these days.   :twocents:

Are you looking for bowmount or transom?  I've never liked the sound of the turn motor on my powerdrive, it was really loud and robotic.  I think the motor guides are easier to put in the water but take up a larger foot print on the bow.  I'm looking for something for my hewes and I'm weighing my options as well.  Seems like Minn Kota has more upgrades available.

:) I bought a MinKota, endura II 50 lb thrust. $219.00 with a $50.00 rebate to come later. so $169.00 in the end. :dunno: seemed good. the 40 lb motor had a $25.00 rebate so it is hardly any cheaper. 10 cheaper than cabelas and the deep cycle battery was 20 cheaper at wholesale sports than cabelas.
It is on the boat, the charger, charging and when the rain slows down I am ready.

They are both top notch with their respectable models.  It's all up to user preference.  Personally, I use a Motorguide 36 volt TR109 101lb thrust, and would never think about switching (as of now..technology).  At full thrust I can swing the boat around smoothly, whereas with the Minnkota's comparable models I've used, it's a little herky jerky.  You won't be disappointed with either. :twocents:

MK. I have a MG and am not a fan, and it's much easier to find someone to work on them. Plus I was used to running a MK before I bought my new boat with the MG, so I was already biased.
