Huntbear,

Have you chronographed that load to see what you are getting for velocity?

Why yes, yes I have..  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I was just wondering what everyone uses for a back-up?  I have a Ruger GP 100 .357 but I did not feel it was big enough for black bear so I went out and bought a Ruger Rehawk 4inch .44 mag.

I carry a springfield xd .40 fullsize with corbon dpx ammo.  I like having 13 rounds and the gun is way more controllable for me.  Never found a revolver that was really comfortable in my hand. :twocents:

I cant afford a handgun so i carry bear mace. i don't want to be "that guy" but... studies have proven that with bear mace you have a higher chance of escaping unscathed ( also if a 400# bear was charging me i don't think my accuracy would be that good as i would probably be running and shooting behind me wildly). that being said a S&W 329pd 44 mag would give me lot more piece of mind.

I carry a Dan Wesson 44. Went in tag alders after a bear with a long gun prior to being 21 and only having my rifle. It was a rather unnerving experience since I could barely push through the stuff to move forward, let alone whip a rifle around at a charging bear... One of my first purchases with the 44. Now I am slightly more comfortable chasing bears in thick stuff.  :IBCOOL:
