Kifaru ?
« on: April 04, 2012, 09:20:06 AM »
I came across these guys while looking for lightweight options for a new backcountry tent.  Anyone on here have or use one of there tipi's with wood stove. This gear is pricey but it looks awesome. I am sold on the wood stove that folds down and is light enough for a backpacker. Thanks
Don't know how to post a link :dunno:

Their tipi's and stoves work very well.  I like other options that are out there nowdays for the tents, but their stoves are still top notch. :twocents:

I have heard nothing but good things about them.  If I had the cash, I would have a sawtooth, with netting, a liner, and a medium stove!

I would look at the shangrila tents. They are super light and compact and also 1/2 to 1/3 the price. They are quality tents. They have great reviews. The backpacking industry makes gear with better prices. Unfortunately with some gear (kifaru, swarovski, nightforce) half the cost is because your buying the name of the product not just the product itself.

That being said if your set on kifaru don't buy new. A lot of people buy kifaru gear to hunt out west or Alaska, do their once in a lifetime trip, then have no further use for this type of gear and sell their slightly used lifetime warranty Kifaru stuff. Cruise this forum/classifieds for some good deals.

Colockumelk,

Have you ever seen a used Sawtooth?  I am in the market if I can find a used one in good shape.
