Little Naches Deer?
« on: July 30, 2008, 06:55:32 PM »
Think I might come across a decent buck while I am archery elk hunting with my Peaches tag?  Haven't heard much talk about them.  I have a multi deer too so I thought I could stick one if I saw a decent buck.

had a Peaches ridge Bull archery tag in 2003, got a nice little rag horn, didn't have the time, plus I was in a full leg cast. Anyway, we saw alot of nice bucks, high and low. But I do remember seeing a really nice dark, dark horned 4pt just below Cougar Pass up high, it was almost with the goats :chuckle: Its way up top above Crow Creek camp ground. (which I've shot 3 elk with in 3 miles of)
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

I've seen a couple that were rather worthy.  Few and far between but the genetics are there.

The area that teacherman is talking about holds a few nice bucks in there every year. Cougar pass, hike up the ridge to the north and hunt a few of the timber pockets. You should see deer and elk in that area. good luck.
