Bringing a little life back to old sheds?
« on: April 05, 2012, 08:31:44 AM »
Does anyone have any tips on making old sheds look like new again?  Can you stain them?  I would love to hear any tips or techniques in bringing a little life back to old white sheds (if its possible).  Thank you.

When touching up antlers for customers, I will use both stain usually a dark walnut, the longer you leave it on the darker the antler and water based paints mix up the color you want, paint it on, and whip in the little details, then a light sand paper around the burls and tips to get that nice pretty ivory look. Pretty simple.  test it out on a old chewed antler first, before you work on your goodins.

I've used brown shoe polish works great to darken white antlers

it never made sense to me why people try to "touch up" sheds.  Why does it matter if they are faded, it's just more character.  It's just my opinion but I won't touch up any of my sheds.  I made a chandalier out of faded antlers and think they look great.
