Just a long rambling question.......

It seems to me many folks put in for stuff without any real plan.........

I put in for the multi-season tag so I can maybe have the oportunity to draw and hunt other seasons. I have archery tackle, muzzleloader, and rifle..........

One of the main draws with the multi-season for me is the abillity to apply for draws for all the weapon choices. For this I buy the tag before I submit the draw apps.

From the talk on the board many folks speak of the Aug. 30 deadline, ect... as if they arent putting in for other draw tags.

So I guess my qustions are: Do many of you folks not put in for other draw tags? Do you pick your weapon type and buy that tag and put in for those draws even though you drew the Multi-season?  Do you not take advantage of the option to put in for draws of any weapon type?

The draw app deadline is about mid May, so for me, thats the deadline to purchase the Multi-season.

I guess it depends on how set you are on a specific unit rather than a weapon type.

If you're DYING for a specific elk/deer unit I'm sure purchasing the multi-season tag early is a nice option... but you still only get 4 draw options, correct?  :dunno:

Their answer is kind of vague.
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Actually you only have two choices in the quality deer category and the quality elk category.

What benchleg was trying imply was to many people put in for special draws without reading the regulations. They depend on someone else to answer the question for them. Do some research before hand.

Why worry about what someone else does? It's their $6.00, if they apply for something and decide it's not something they want, it's their money that was wasted. So why would anybody else care?

Their answer is kind of vague.

Yes you can only put in for the given number of hunt choices per draw application. The system will only give you 2 or 4 dropdowns for making choices. The difference is you can choose from hunts of any weapon type. They might not explain it well, but the system will only let you do what you can do.

I guess for me priorities lay a bit different. The weapon in my hands isnt a big concern to me. I like to hunt where and when I can be succesfull. I'll carry whatever weapon I need to in order to hunt the area and times of year I think I can be most succesfull. Likewise I will choose whatever weapon type gives me the best draw odds for making things come together.

I'm not a "bowhunter", or "rifle hunter". I'm just a "hunter".

The multi-season deer tag opens all sorts of doors for a guy. You can hunt the high buck with a rifle for those long range rimrock pokes. Take the bow and chase some velvet blacktails. Grab the muzzy and hit the woods a week or so before the rifle guys and hunt some un-molested deer. Then go to deer camp with your pards and kids. And then if you still havent filled your tag, grab the bow and get in on the rut and then the migration and on into the end of December.

To get that same type of oportunity I have to fly to Alaska and buy their $85 hunting license and $150 deer tag. They pretty well have a 5 month season, pick your poison. I do that about every other year.

I've bought the multi-season deer 2x and this year I'll buy it a third. I'll get my $180's worth out of it, count on it.
