wood splitter engine gone

  my speeco 22 t0n wood splitter blew its top or bottom.  i need a new engine,. can any engine fit?  is there a problem with the attachments?  i am not versed with tools or the mechanicsof the whole deal.  mike w

Briggs and Stratton 650 series  would be the replacement engine -the easiest thing to do is replace it with the same model of engine. You could also go to your local lawnmower repair center and have your current engine rebuilt. A 'new engine' will run you more than a few hundred dollars. A rebuild should be cheaper.
