I guess I am different.
I can't live without my Bino's--I don't leave home without them!

 :yeah:

I'd rather leave my gun at home than my bino's.

The question was

If you were on a backcountry bivy hunt for elk and could only bring ONE of the following items with you, which ONE would it be?

  • When I hunt I always have a map on me or at least look it over if I have been there a few times to make sure I know what is up.
  • I always bring a wrist compass so I know what direction to go in or out.
  • I would bring the water purifier as I the West side water is not an issue but the desert areas have way more stagnant water then the West
  • Sleeping bag is a luxury you can live without

I hunt with my 72 year old dad so if we were on a backcountry bivy hunt it would be because we were horribly lost!

What would we need?
Well Since we are now lost, we wouldn't have a GPS to help us get back...
We hunt in Western WA so Bino's would not do us any good, to heavy anyway...
Sleeping pad, no need we are both older so we have plenty of padding already...
Water Purifier, would be a good idea but of course we would not have that, plus if we drink enough water we can get rid of some of that extra padding I already talked about...
But we could "NEVER" get along without our elk calls so by reason of deduction I would have to say "ELK CALLS"

Elk call

I would boil the water......use leaves, ferns, pine needles for bedding,.......maps work if you know how to use them.......no need for binocs in westetn WA.......I would go with the elk call because there is nothing like a screa :tup:ming bull coming to check out the cow......kill it and head for the truck.
