Buy a 40mm. Not enough gain with the 50mm.

The 50mm probably won't make any difference unless you get the 30mm (or larger) tubes, not the 1" tubes.

the 50mm definately helps, but the only time it helps is in lower light conditions. During the day you probably wont notice.

I will always go Leupy myself.  That being said, I have never used or tested the Bushnell Elite Series.

I have a bushnell elite 4-14. It's a nice scope. Bright and sharp.

Bushnell Elite 4200 and 6500 absolutely rock the Leupies for the same money.
Having a 6.5x erector gives you a calling scope and reach-out-and-touch-them scope in the same package.
FYI a 30mm tube only provides a greater range of adjustment, not light.

man I dont know how I got away with a 4power fixed or 3x9x40 all my life... only one time did I wish I had the 50mm, I could see this great blacktail buck with my binos and the size of his rack,but could not see him through my scope,just not enough light...the leupold is the way I would go for the money,a friend has the bushnell and he loves that..look through a few and decide...

I already have the scope here at home.

There is just something about being able to get it fixed or replaced right now.
