multi-season and special draw
« on: April 12, 2012, 09:27:07 PM »
i have been drawn for the multi-season tags, so my question is what is good to put in for for rifle tags and muzzle loader tags? I usally put in for the peaches ridge archery bull tag, but want to start hunting the west side also, so what are the good tags for over there for archery and riffle and muzzle loader?

You still only get two hunt choices for quality bull, so I'd think, unless you have max points, you're best bet is still to put in for the bow hunts you know best.  Way too many people put in for the wet side rifle tags to hope to draw (for me, anyway).  :twocents:

Your doing the total opposite of most people who draw multiseason. Most hunt the westside general hunts and hope to draw an eastside bull tag.

Like Todd said, you still only get two choices for quality elk, so you might as well just go with the one you know (Peaches Ridge) and maybe for your #1 choice you could put in for one of the September rifle permits. (also on the eastside)

They're almost impossible to draw but if you put the archery or muzzleloader Peaches Ridge hunt for your 2nd choice it won't hurt to have one of the others as a first choice.

I was about to start a topic figured I'd look here first.  Why do the wet side archery permits suck so bad ?  Is the toutle quality tag any good ?  I'll probably still put in but not many choices.

Well, there's not as many elk as there used to be, in most of the areas. But I still think most of the permits in the quality category are good hunts. They're just not good if all you care about is killing a bull that will make the book. For me, I don't care so much about that aspect of it, if I see a lot of bulls and have a lot of shot opportunities, and see few hunters, that's a quality hunt in my mind.

I personally wouldn't waist your points on a Peaches archery tag. Since they opened it up to general there are just too many spike and cow hunter there to even call it a "Quality" hunt anymore. :twocents:

Thanks bobcat .  I agree after looking into the WA hunts for quality they aren't bad at all.  I would love to shoot a smaller class bull.  The number of tags for WA is far less than other quality maybey that's why it looked so bad at first glance.  I would rather points for a good ea permit anyways.

It's official, I received my first Multi Season Elk permit  Now I can finally  put in for an east side archer hunt  :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:

Now getting drawn in a whole other thing but at least I can try

I guess I will put in for Peaches first but have no idea about my second choice.. Goose Prairie or Observatory...

Any thoughts???

I hunt with my dad who is 72, he's good for a couple miles in to hunt if I can find good trails or old gated roads so that has to be part of making my choices for permints.
