tika t3 270WSM???
« on: April 15, 2012, 01:12:42 PM »
Well I won a RMEF sponsor riffle last night.  It is a Tika T3 270wsm lite.  Still ponder what to do with it.  I was originally thinking of donating it back to my local chapter but, after fondling it I am starting to like it.  Really feels like a nice gun.  So any thoughts on this round for western hunting?  What is a good all around bullet weight for this round?  I just have no experience with this round.  I have always used 30 cal or larger.  I like Barnes bullets so will most likely work up a load for them.  You thoughts on this round and gun will be appreciated.

a guy who uses our cooler shot a bull this year with a 270wsm and barnes. it was about a 300 yard shot and it seemed to do a pretty good job, very little wasted meat.

now when my other buddy (shooting 150 grain bergers,270wsm)  blasted a 2.5 year old blacktail at 75 yards the results where pretty much the opposite. not a very fun butchering job :bash:

i think the barnes is the way to go for that hot of a bullet

btw  we'v had excellent results with accuracy(150 berger) out to 1000yards with the tika 270 wsm.

Great gun/caliber, keep it for sure.  You might try something like a 150 gr Accubond if they make it in that bullet weight I am not sure.  It has been awhile

I would definitely keep that gun. Great rifle and great cartridge, IMO. I think a Barnes would be good, anything from 130 to 150 grains, doesn't really matter. Just whichever one shoots the best. The 150 grain Accubond would be a good one to try as well, as Bowhunter suggested.

My first choice would be a 130 grain Barnes TSX or TTSX.   That's a keeper of a rifle / caliber.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

Great gun, I have a Winchester 70 in .270wsm and love it. I have shot deer, bear and antelope with it and used 150 grain accubonds and bergers. I would keep it  :twocents:
