O.K. heres the story....  Been seeing lots of birds around my place, so I built a nice little ground blind behind the house. My seven year old and I were in it at first light. Lots of gobbling throughout the morning around us. A few hens came to our calls early, but spooked away. About 8:00 am I heard that distinct spittin and drumming sound right behind us. I slowing turned my head to see a big tom in full strut 10 yards away. I was able to turn around, draw my bow and shoot him in full strut at about 12 yards. I put another quick insurance shot into him, and the hootin and hollaring began.  It was sure exiting, and a special experience to share with my son. Heres a pic of him holding "our" bird. Notice our blind in the background.

Great job!  Gotta love it when the "drive" to your hunting spot is short.   :chuckle:

Thanks guys, I got another big tom patterned, and I think we'll try for him after school today. I'm thinking I'll pack the 20 guage tonight for a little change, plus this groundblind would be tough to bowhunt out of.
