Scouting

When is the best time to scout?
I know a lot of people that do it pretty much all year long but I really don't have that kind of time.

I am pretty new to hunting (hunted for the first time last season) and I am pretty new to the area, I have heard a lot of things about a place called "Vail" but I have no idea where it is: Can anyone give me directions to Vail? And as I understand it Vail is extremely pressured; would it be worth my time to scout the area?
governments are instituted among MEN,deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever ANY form of GOVERNMENT becomes DESTRUCTIVE of these ends, it is the RIGHT of the people to alter or to ABOLISH it,and institute a NEW government

If your willing to walk in. The gates are only opened during rifle deer season.

I wouldn't try to scout by walking in on the main access road into the Vail Tree Farm, but you could scout some of the nearby areas, which are still in the same GMU. Right now is a good time, before the trees get all leafed out. It's easier to see the lay of the land and easier to find deer trails. The best time to go out if you want to see animals, especially bucks, is July and August. But the best time to scout is anytime you can!

Personally, I wouldn't plan to hunt a place that is discussed a lot and is known for heavy hunting pressure.
The best time to scout is whenever you can.
For learning general areas and access, I wouldn't worry much about timing. If I had to pick a time for more detailed observations of a specific area, I'd pick a time shortly after the season ends. That timing would give a better idea of where they are during hunting season, the vegetation is down, and there's a chance of snow.
