Been an eventful last couple of days. Went out Thursday evening after school and thought I might get lucky and get a easy one and be back before my wife got home....nope. Turned loose around 4 and got home a little after midnight. Saw the big ol cinnamon bear once but never could get a shot on him, would of been a nice one to get tanned, pretty coat on him. That bear walked and bayed for 5+hrs with all 7 dogs right on him, of course my wife and I were getting ready for our baby girl to be born and she packed my camcorder and camera so I didnt get any footage of anything. It was hard to get into where they were walking and baying because there wasn't any roads close to where they were, just around it, everytime I would try to get close to end it the bear would break and run. Had to dogs get slapped, one was the Patches female out of Moose and WACoyoteHunter's female, she ended up breaking a couple ribs and looks like she will be heading home tonight or tomorrow. Gonna be awhile before she heals up. My other male got a good gash and a couple claw holes on his side too. I heard when Patches got hit, she's a hurting unit now. It was my fault for not getting in there and ending it but like I said everytime I would get close the bear would break and run. The next day I ended up going out with a buddy who has a bunch of younger dogs, they all did pretty good but at the end it was just Stella, Moose, and Savage on the bear still, they were already tuckered from the night before and Stella spent the night in the woods because I couldn't get to her and she was still ready to go the next day. Well they finally treed that bear the second day and were treed for a couple hours, we had to go way around to get to a road above them. Well should of went from below them, which would of taken longer but at least the bear wouldnt have winded us. The wind was coming off the top of the ridge and blowing hard down towards the tree. Dogs were treeing real hard right before we got about 150yds above them and bailed out then they were walking and baying it for another good 2-3hrs, got in to hear the bear huffing around once but I couldn't get close enough, winded me again. Overall I was pretty pleased with the dogs, especially with how well the pups out of Moose have been doing!

Been super busy lately to say the least. School, baby doctors appointments, and hunting. And now my baby girl is finally here! Wasn't able to hunt that much the last couple of weekend due to my wifes due date being so close and it was well worth the wait. We welcomed my daughter Reese Rylynn Erickson at 7lbs 10oz on June 1st into this world. Happiest day of my life! It was a pretty crazy day. Even though I wasn't able to get out much and hunt a good buddy who is actually my 3rd cousin went out and hunted a few of my dogs and caught some more bears. Caught 30 so far this year, been slower than I expected but still having a good year and most days like today I am hunting pups younger than a year old. Today I hunted 8 dogs, Moose and 7 pups! Talk about a crazy hectic day! Treed one and almost got ran over by a big boar that Moose treed by himself 3 times, the pups got in on it bayed up and id good but just dont have the endurance quite to keep up with Moose. WaCoyoteHunter's pups are doing awesome, to say the least, his Nosey dog, that I just got recently after Chris's dog that I was hunting got a broken rib or two from a bear, is crazy fast and just has a hatred for those bears when she trees. Did great on the bayup too from what I could hear. It just pissed rain today, I had to change my jeans, sweatshirt, and shirt because they were barely hanging on me when I got back to the rig, looked like I jumped in the lake.
