Who's fishing tomorrow?

I'll be making the trip over to Seattle to fish around pier 86. This is my favorite season of the year.

I know there is a lot of people who would like to figure this fishery out. Or bank fishing for lingcod in general. I have a very extensive knowledge on the subject and if anyone wants to meet up Tuesday evening or Wednesday throughout the day i will gladly give you a rundown on fishing lings from the bank.
This is a pretty good opportunity to learn from the best. My numbers from the bank are what boat fisherman dream of  :chuckle: had to toot my own horn

Well today was the toughest day I've experienced in a very long time. Ended up going 1 for 2, landing one 25 1/2" and losing one in the mid 30" range. Missed a few other hits throwing a secret jig
And my buddy landed one in the mid 20" range

Wind pounded the shore most of the day making fishing less then ideal. Then add low barometer. I knew fishing would be tough but i can't miss opening day of my favorite fishery.

I wouldn't expect fishing to be any better till mid friday.

Not sure if it was just a better location at the time, but the biting picked up for me when the wind shifted from West to South around 10:30 today.  Still no lings though.

I didn't make it to seattle till high tide change. Picked the 25 incher up right after slack tide. And the second hookup came when the winds died down around 6pm.
The various other hits i got was after the wind shifted and started blowing from the north.

My buddy fished from 8am all incoming tide and no one he talked to hit fish. We were the only guys to hook up all day from everyone we talked to.

but we also fish every day if the season and know exactly where the fish hold in the rocks. It's Kinda like cheating  :chuckle:
now i just need to learn westport better sense its my new local lingcod spot.

Yesterday was a tough day to fish for sure! Our boat ended 2/3 in area 10 with a few fish missed. When you could stay on the rocks the fish were hungry though

Hey Bankwalker, how long does it normally say good fishing for lings from shore.  Through out the season or does it kind of slow down after a little while???

It usually stays good throughout the whole season. The last couple years the beginning of the season has been fairly slow due to colder weather preventing good kelp growth. And bait staying out away from the shore.
