Starlings...

We have a Starling "issue" that needs corrected, and I have a question that I just can't seem to find an answer to. 

The state of Washington used to reimburse private individuals for the cost of the supplies, (bait and chicken wire, etc.) when it was used for Starling control.  This has been several years ago and I can't seem to recall which department was in charge of it.  I do remember that they wouldn't pay for any supplies other than those used to trap the birds.  The euthanization cost was on the individual.  (In other words they wouldn't buy my kids' 22 shells). 

Any and all information is greatly appreciated.

honestly i would love to help ya out but with my bow or shotgun..or 22..or 204...or 300wsm... im done with school in a week and will be back in cr then.    as far as mas extermination i have zero idea.i know they trap them at the dump so maybe call and ask them 

p.s I'm serous about shooting them for ya if your interested,i hate those things

I use pellet guns.  I find that if I grease a few each spring, the rest get wise to the fact that the yard is a "no fly zone" for starlings and house sparrows, and that it is enforced with extreme prejudice.  I shot my first starling of the spring today, and the rest of the neighborhood flock is already pretty jumpy in my yard.  And before anyone tells me I can't shoot starlings with a pellet gun legally in Washington, yes I can.  They are considered a nuisance and a pest, and NOT game or song birds.  That makes them fair game with whatever you like or have on hand.  I have contacted WDFW about this, and they confirmed it for me.  If you do decide to get into using airguns, a word of advice - don't skimp, do your research, and get an accurate, quality gun.  They aren't cheap, but they're worth it if you are going to shoot it a lot.  I have a couple nice airguns (one with over $900 into it,) and they are a joy to shoot and deadly on pests.

It's called, "get creative with life termination issues".  The state is only concerned, with human life termination. They could care less about you and your bird issues.......................Shoot often and straight......... :twocents

.177 cal or .22 cal Predator brand red tipped pellets.  There expansion on live targets is amazing and quick results.  Range of air rifles and sound make them much more acceptable for usage for depredation in urban areas.  Still danger and caution must be exercised with all shooting but a good means with little damage other that what you are shooting at.

I believe it's an edgun matador it's a pcp rifle and I wanna say they cost about 1500 bucks

Yes. It is an edgun matador. He is scary good with it though, with shots out to 120 or so.

I'm going to get this bad boy dialed in this weekend, had to order some pellets it prefers so that set me back some time.

I have watched a few as well. It is funny as heck when he find a good bird and he starts talking about them being good. Then a starling goes flying by and he gets pissed

I took one out the other day with my DPMS 308 at 250 yards!! Man that thing is accurate

my pellet gun is what i use 90 percent of the time and the rest i use my 17 or 12 gauge they defiantly work great !
