looking to hunt on a preserve...
« on: May 09, 2012, 02:44:37 PM »
im looking for a preserve to hunt on/club to join so i can do some bird hunting and work with the dog. seems like there are some good ones over in south east washington, but i just dont know anything about any of them and was hoping to hear about them on here.

im looking for a place where i bring my own dog (no guides), i can shoot birds multiple days and has camping near by

has anybody hunted at the Acme Hunting Club here in skagit county? read an older post about it from like 2009, but that didnt really give much information...

catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
Forget the bear spray, use wasp killer. Concentrated delivery stream, 10X the product, and only $3.00 on sale.

I smoke two fish in the morning, I smoke two fish at night, I smoke two fish in de afternoon makes me feel alright

Don't know much but I've heard good things about Cook Canyon.........

http://www.cookecanyon.com/

I was at the sportsman show in Puy year before last. Went to get some food and asked to sit in the only empty seat. Turned out I was sitting next to the owner. Nice guy. We bs'd about fishing.....not bird hunting. Thanked me for the conversation (and not talking about business), gave me his card, offered to have me out to shoot some birds sometime.

I've been invited to a couple of hunts by suppliers when I was working.  We hunted Double Barrel Ranch south of Spokane,  Had a great time, lots of strong flying birds and and they acted allot like wild birds, running and hiding in the heavy cover of the creek bottoms and fence rows.  We went in Feb and Mar, one year in a snow storm and the next in mud.  The five stand was fun also.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

I'll second Double Barrel Ranch. It's a long drive for me, but it's beautiful country and Ron and Joe are great!

the double barrel looks really nice

the way i figure, to pheasant hunt here, i gotta pay close to 130 bucks anyway, so, i think hunting on a preserve  (150$ unguided, 5 pheasant or 8 chukar, or 200$ for a guided hunt) just seems like a better deal to me especially because you know exactly where your money is going, and the state wont get a single penny of it

Is Double Barrel the place right below Mica Peak?
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I saw that place when we went to Mica Peak to help my dad get his cow moose several years ago.  Nice looking spread there.
