I'd go 338 in any variant (Federal, '06, WM, RUM, etc). It's my favorite bore diameter. If you reload, it's much more versatile than many people think. One of the most accurate guns I own is a 338/375 Ruger pistol. It'll out shoot most rifles, give 338 WM ballistics from the 18" barrel, and it fits in a backpack!

Given the choice offered, rem 700 in 300wsm...that said, if i could choose one, and i sold it to a member and regret it, lol..that boring 30-06. nothing it can't do, with todays bullets, and increased speed, 165gr at 3000 fps. todays 30-06 is yesterdays 300 mag.

A blaser.

If i reload then a blaser with 3 barrels being 22hrnt, 7x64, and 9.3x62

If i dont reload then a blaser with 3 barels being 22lr, .270, and 338win.

I would go with almost any .338 that is .338 Win Mag or up.  You can get bullets ranging from 160 gr to 300 gr.

Guys, what are your thoughts in using a 264 win mag as an all around gun?  I haven't taken it elk hunting yet, but I know guys use them.  There are more bullets these days, and I shoot it a lot better than my 338 rum.  Thinking about dumping the ultra mag and investing in a nice scope for the 264.  Thoughts?

Love my .338 win mag, I have found myself the last few years only using this. A little overkill sometimes but dead is dead  :twocents:

All your choices will work with good shot placement... That being said I carry my .300 WSM but would not and have not feel/felt undergunned with my .308

Elkinrut...  reference your .264 Win Mag, an oldtimer friend I had killed more moose and elk with a .264 than I'll probably ever have a chance to see.  It's a good round with the 140 grain load if you place your shots.  It's kind of a classic round too which makes it interesting.

Great caliber, not easy to find.

Realistically, "if" I had to pick one caliber it would be one of the more popular calibers 30-06, 308, 7mm mag, 300 win mag for the main reason they all will do the job, and I could buy ammo at any hardware store/sporting goods store.

But since I do not have to choose one, I have at least one of each, then some, lol
