when to change your bow string?

When do you guys change your bow strings? Do you shoot them for a couple years and change them? Whats the general rule on that?...ive had my bow for 6 years now with the same string and was wonderin what everyone else does

When you start seeing the thin little hairs from the torque put on the string from shooting, you need to wax it. If after waxing you notice the little hairs are still there after a few shots, you need to get a new string.  :twocents:

I have only replaced once and for the very reason as stated above. The archery shop said it was still fine but I didn't want to take the chance of it breaking.

every 2-3 years depending on condition. never go more then 3.
they call me the bloodhound cause i can track a wounded animal in the rain for 2 days when all it has is a splinter.. sniff sniff awooo

I have the guys at the nock point check for me.   I average 5 arrows a day...string is a year old but it's something that I worry about as well.  Shooting a Hoyt, but got my first bow after the string blew up on my brother (Parker magnum) and he used that as an excuse to go hoyt.   The guy at the shop said they were tough on strings!?   
Old enough to know better.
Young enough to go for it.
