DO NOT GET THE MANDARIN TERIYAKI from high MOUNTAIN.
I have eaten better stuff from third world countries and I had no idea what I was eating.
And one step more do not ADD ONION POWDER/GARLIC POWDER/BLACK PEPPER AND BABY BACK RIB RUB TO IT TO TRY AND GET IT TO TASTE BETTER.
That makes you want to slam your mouth down the sink and fill it with vinegar.
THIS MESSAGE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO YOU SO YOU LEARN FROM OTHERS MISTAKES. ONCE AGAIN DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that, it sucks when you get a funky flavor of jerky after all that work.

Mandarin Teriyaki, just the name raises all kinds of questions. Are they trying to combine chinese and japanese flavors or say that they are all the same? Thanks for the heads up, hope it didn't cost you too much.

Yep, we wasted a good 8 pounds of elk on that stuff. It was so bad we figured we must have gotten a bad batch. So being the brilliant folks we are I got another batch that was suppose to be from an earlier run. Another 5# of elk meat that turned into dog treats.
Not sure what happened to the liquid stuff with the red and gold label Fred Meyers used to carry. That stuff was Oh! So yummy! Haven't found a Yaki recipe we like since.
I've liked all the other flavors from Hi Mountain. Just not sure why they would call something that has very little salt and no Yaki flavor a teriyaki cure. Sucker Yucky it's now called around here.

Good to know, I did a batch of Antelope jerky today for the weekend. I used some of the cabelas brand seasoning I had in original flavor that turned out really good. I did up 5 pounds and most of it is already gone.....:-)
