We were out most of the day. Pt. defiance, Girl scout Camp, Dalco, Evans, and Gig Harbor. Lots of bait but only heard of about 5-6 fish caught. There was about 200 of my closest friends out in the rain with me.

The funny thing is on the opener out of the 200 boats only about 10% know wtf they're doing
Doesn't sound like I missed much. Looks like some big tides too. I'll pick a day with a good tide and go then.

My cousin puts his boat in July 1st and keeps it moored for the entire month. This year he bought a gps unit that will steer his boat for him while we fish, can't wait to see how that works. He's a fishing nut and we do pretty well in 11 during July.

Not sure if any guys here fish it much but the last week or so has been pretty fair with some guys getting some nice fish. Trollers have been doing pretty good. I went out the evening before last just before the tide change for a couple hours. Managed to pull in this guy on a coyote spoon about 80' down. I wanted to stay out longer but the wind picked up. I wish I had the time to go more often and catch one of the 20-30 lbers I hear of guys getting. Think I'll try Chambers my next time out. Keep in mind my 6 year old is 6'6" 235 lbs

Good job Sniper. Chambers can be pretty good and is putting out some fish right now. You might get your #20er there but your pushing it with a #30, Possible but not likely. Don't be afraid to get into 30 feet of water, I have caught more fish in 30 feet of water then out in 80 feet. Fish from Chambers down towards the ferry, you don't need to stay right out front. Is that a Tide Runner? Good luck

Yeah grew up in Gig Harbor and currently live on Fox Island. Been fishing area 11 and 13 for about 14 years
Caught that one on the Gig Harbor shoreline. Kept a boat at Point Defiance for a few years so I really like fishing area 11. Caught lots of nice kings at Chambers. So easy launching at Fox Island then just a couple minute run. Only complaint about Chambers is there is normally a lot of junk in the water and I find myself cleaning gear often. Yeah 30# isn't common but they get a few each year. My good buddy is a fish checker at Pt. Defiance and he landed a finned one he said was an honest 35lbs. This guy also fills probably 3 or 4 punch cards each season.
I normally go way more than I have this year but finding the time is getting harder... Yes! It is a Tiderunner. Best fishing boat for the sound IMO!

Yes, Tiderunners are a great boat, wish I could say that is what I have. I do fish out of one often. I have a 1966 Fiberform, believe it or not rides like a dream. Outside of Gig Harbor is my favorite spot to fish. Yes you can get a #30+ pound fish in that area, I was referring to chambers creek in last post. 2 years ago a friend caught a fin clipped #52 out side of Gig Harbor. Now that is as rare as it comes. Keep catching my friend, great days to be on the water.

Here is a little something something for you guys as well. I've done this for years and swear it helps. Pick up a few of the daisy chain trolling flashers. They use them a bit for lake trolling for lakers and kokes.....I string two of them together and run them off my rigger ball. I think it mimics a bait school and will help bring an extra strike or two.

Nice! Goin to try to find a bear this weekend or else I'd be out there. My very first king I caught in area 11 when I was 17 was 28.5 lbs. Caught it mooching at the slag pile. Good times.

Yesterday we pulled an 11 lb kind from delco, Sat we killed 5 kings, lost 2 and had to let 2 natives go one of which was 20+ lbs. Killed most at dolphin point and redondo, they hit every bait we had on Sat. Spoons, cut herring the most. The wind and grass have been stopping us from getting more, but my cousin is averaging 1 or 2 a day, he fishes everyday but Monday. It's on fire out there.
