timers and delays and such
« on: August 08, 2008, 09:51:56 PM »
so getting ready to strap my new camera to a tree this weekend and was trying to get it programmed up. any suggestions as far as how many shots to set it for when triggered and the delay between triggers? i can set mine to delay from 1-59 minutes between triggered shots. i assume they all do this...it will likely be hung on a game trail where the critters will be passing by the cam, not hanging out to feed. we might throw a little salt on the ground to go with it.

I did one minute delay with a three pictures shot with each trip. Just use a big memory card.

I don't know why they give you the choice of 1-59 minutes.  What in the he!! would anyone do that for?

1 minute or less, I wish it would go for 15 seconds.  I prefer double shots, to save some of the flash, and usually by the third pic the animal has moved away.

I use to set mine on a 1 minute delay and a 3 pic burst but I never got any better pics then with a 1 minute delay and 1 picture at a time. You might try using some real Vanila (Costco has a Big bottle relatively inexpensive) just pour some 8-10 ft in front of the Camera or use some sugar.

we ended up with 3 pic burst with a 2 minute delay. we'll see how it worked out tomorrow.

I would recommend you set your Camera to 1 minute. Some times the animals will hang around for 1 minute but hardly ever for 2 minute's. You will miss pic's if it's set on 2 minute's. Setting it to 1 minute will give you one extra Pic compared to a 2 minute time? Ideally a Trail Camera would take a Pic every 5-15 second for 1 minute.

Just some thoughts on a 3 Pic burst. If your Trail Cam has a flash. One flash will get there attention. Two flash's will make them nervous. 3 flashes they are gone!!! I don't think I ever got another pic at one minute(in the dark)when mine was set on a 3 pic burst. Good Luck
