You guys are right, it was Buck Creek, not the 73.

They always close buck creek before the rifle season, but there are better areas that don't get closed. And to the guys that think the tribes don't rape the elk up there, I don't think you have a clue. I do have a clue, everyone that knows that area well knows what the truth is. I've gave many examples in the past on this forum and even talked about it with someone on here that is a muckleshoot and he was surprised what I knew. Yes, the white guys are not perfect, but the 11 tribes that hunt that unit kill a lot of elk and yes they do kill more than the non natives. Not trying to jack your thread but I can't stand it when guys think all the tribe bashing is bs, some of it is true. Good luck on your hunt, if the natives killed only as much as the non natives that unit would be second best on the west side.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

well ladies  there are lots and lots of bulls all over the white river unit and as a matter of fact there are more elk in the white river area now than ever b4 i dont much care for the natives but they have done a hell of alot more for the white river herd than our state ever has last yr alone they spent more than a million dollars on research and enhancing land for elk do some real research and youll find out yourselves not just heresay but if you go scout the area youll find good bulls everywhere and i would get a key i have killed many bulls in that area and would give advice if asked

Tag holder and helpers of the tag holder needing a place to stay for scouting or hunting purposes for this white river tag I have a cabin near Corral pass (close to last cabin).  It's a rustic yet comfy cabin that's been drying out hunters for years.  Don't know if this is applicable but thought I'd throw it out there.  I'd love to tag along but not gonna require it.   PM me for details/pics and what you're thinking if interested???  Congrats on tag!

If you don't know where Corral pass is, the USFS road to get up there is just after Alta Crystal Resort (usfs rd # is slipping my mind).  Another  reference is the cabin is about 1 mile from the Crystal Mountain Ski Resort.  The USFS rd to the cabin is off hwy 410.  Another reference is it's a couple miles past buck creek bridge....

Either way, cabin is off hwy 410 3/4 of a mile.  You may have elk on the driveway????

The cabin has been in my family for nearly 60yrs...back in the day we had 3 generations (gramps, dad, me & brothers) hunting from the cabin.  We had chances @ nice bulls just walking out of the cabin.  Very few people up there at that time too.  Cabin on creek...always nice to listen while falling asleep after long day in field.

How long you been hunting around there? My stepdads father died up there in 1977 chasing an Elk he shot. My brother shot his first deer up there as well. I hunted several years for deer and Elk never conected because of point restrictions on Elk and could never get close to deer. Very cool country up there

Last time I hunted up there I think I was 11.  I'm the youngest of the brothers.  My grandad & father hunted up their for years.  My grandad passed in 92' hunting elk up there also (weird-pm his name my dad may know him).  It was the best place for him to rest.  We now hunt on the eastside.  I wish we could hunt their during general, it sure would be back to "good ol days".

Good luck to all the tag holders!

No disrespect to your family, but let's just hope I dont die up there chasing Elk.  Can't think of a better way to go, but I'm still young and not ready.  :chuckle:

Thats funny.  No disrespect taken.  My grandad smoked since he was practily walking and never went to the doctor even when it was well needed.  My dad used to give my grandad crap for it, but now my dad is doing the same (minus the smoking).  I've broken the spell by getting checkups often.
