Large, small visitor.
« on: June 16, 2012, 10:52:40 PM »
A couple of nights ago, there was a thumping on our picture window.  When I looked out, I could see a large silk moth.  I tried to catch him for some photos, but he disappeared in the wind.

This afternoon my wife came out to the shop with another one in a jar.  She caught it on the inside of our back door.  Pretty cool bug, a Ceonothus Silk Moth.

I expect silk robe by the end of the week!! :chuckle: They come around every summer. Just leave the light on for them, they will be there in the moring. If the birds don't find them first , somethime there will be just a pair of wings on the ground when you look outside.

That's a monster, I don't know if I've seen one of those. I took a relatively crappy shot of a Lorquin's Admiral yesterday, trying for a better one but with this nice "June-uary" were having I don't know if I'll pull it off this month.
