Spent three days at lake wenatchee sockeye fishing.
« on: August 08, 2008, 06:44:34 PM »
Spent three days at lake wenatchee sockeye fishing with wife and son and had the time of our lives. Limited out each day wed, thurs & fri. Fish look great, bright and clean. As clean as any I've caught. Brought home 18 24" sockeye, each day fished for four hours to catch our limit. Was 100 degrees and no wind !!! ever. Calm as can be, I've never seen that lake calm like that. Caught fish at any time of day, fished 90 ft to bottom & ran down riggers at 45 ft. We are tired, burned and relaxing now. Ice chest is totally full, one of the funnest salmon fishing we have done as a family. Nobody was around wed, & thurs but 200 trucks rolled in today as we were leaving at noon. Thanks for the advice from the guys I PMed. Mike.

No photos of the fish, we were so excited to get out each day we didn't make time to grab the camera. Did get some scenery shots from the beach. Fish were the standard 24" sockeyes. The wind was wild, it would blow like hell 5 am to like 6 am and then a nice constant breeze all day with smooth water. Even though it was hot (95-100 each day) it felt pretty cool. Did have to get the umbrellas out for five minutes on Fri, one little ass cloud in the whole sky dumped on us & then sun again. Gave out salmon to family & friends, one out for Sunday bbq and still ten in the freezer. We were loaded up to camp at another lake when I got the states e-mail Tues night, headed right to lake Whenatchee and like I said favorite family fishing trip ever. Mike

A couple friends went over last night and left me a voice mail at 7:00am. They put the boat in about 5:45am and had their 8 fish by 6:30am. Said the fish were not as bright as LK. Washington but still firm and okay to keep. They were using the same gear and method we use over here, said it was fun while it lasted :chuckle:
