Drawn for Unit G in Wyoming....
« on: June 19, 2012, 01:41:22 PM »
Could be my year, drawn for spring bear, peaches ridge branch bull tag and now Unit G in Wyoming, only had 1 preference point so I think my odds were less than 10%, bring on Sept 15th.  I can't wait.

Congrats!! I couldn't afford to apply in WY this year. I had two points and I hope I didn't lose them because I didn't apply.

Congratulations on a great draw year. I love that part of Wyoming. It is my favorite place to hunt the highcountry in mid september. Have a good time and good luck. Remember to post up some pics. I never get tired of seeing Wyoming highcountry pictures.

Congrats!  I hunted Region H right on the border of G in the Greys River area with Tim Trefren and Trefren Oufitters in 2009. Had a great hunt and took a nice Mule Deer on the 3rd day.  Have fun!

Very bad winter kill winter of 2010-2011.  numbers are just starting to come back even though last winter was very mild.  Eatmans says it should be hard to get a trophy due to the older bucks having such a low survival rate during 2010-2011 winter.  It will take three to five years for the numbers  to go up.  this is why you drew with low point numbers because everyone is waiting for the herd to rebound before putting in.  good luck and awsome country.

I wasn't familiar with unit G so I googled to read about it. Granted this article was from 2010, but is kind of depressing. From this it looks to be crowded??

That is why I decided not to put in for it this year because everything you read about it these days is that it is just crazy!  More and more cameron hanes wannabee's going deeper and deeper and if you can get past them then you start running into the horse camps!  I don't have any actual experience with the area though so who knows :dunno:

Hunted it last year and had a blast. Maybe its down hill for Wyoming, but it was great for this Washington boy.

Good luck!!  I'll be there on a general tag, hunting deer and elk.  Spotted a couple at the end of the season that hadn't been bothered.  I love the WY hunting experience.

You'll be ok, just buy your points at the end of summer.

I was kind of counting on drawing my tag there this year, even with 5 points I only had about 50% odds, guess it wasnt my year. Good luck you'll have plenty of fun

You can miss accumulating points for one year in Wyoming without losing them.  Miss two years in a row - you reset to zero points.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Thats going to be a good tag to hold this year. Wyoming game and fish cut 200 non resident tags this year and shaved a few days off the season.  Early spring, youll be in good shape!  DIY or hiring a outfitter? We went last year on DIY on the opener it was frustrating.  We went up archery one weekend and ran into a outfitter glassing with his kids.  Great guy gave us alot of info that helped.  We ended up hiring him on our second trip back.  We only had 2 days to hunt and he squeezed us in.  TOP NOTCH!  I didnt draw this year.  Best of luck.  If your interested hes 5k outfitters.
