Scored today! My biggest trout.
« on: June 20, 2012, 11:18:10 PM »
I cant seem to get any fur on the ground, but today I got a pig in the boat! 7lb 13oz trout.. Caught in an undisclosed location within half an hour of olympia..  I forgot to measure length until after his head was cut off, but he was 21" without the head. I caught him on a light action ugly stick with 4lb. line, and powerbait dough.. my friend caught two nice ones, and I thought it was going to be another day of getting skunked and then I hooked into this guy.
It was at least a 10min fight, because I didnt want to break the line. He was running my drag out hard, and putting on a nice show for all to see. Lots of people were on shore and in other boats watching the fight take place. This is definately my best ever trout.

Well.....I guess it doesn't matter if you get a deer this year.  Your freezer will be filled with fish.  Those are absolute hogs.  Strong Work!!!

I cut each half of the fish into 5 good size filet/steaks. I cooked a nice piece immediately and then put the rest in the freezer. Oh and also shared some with my neighbor.. The one fish is like dinner for 10.. Im still going to continue my efforts to put some fur on the ground, but hey if I cant I guess I can get some fish.

Those are some sweet fish.  Are fish from that lake typically that large?

No, Im pretty sure we caught the 3 biggest fish in there! There are big fish in there but this isnt typical at all. My 2nd biggest fish out of there was like 17" and maybe 3lbs
