Glock "Perfection" ??
« on: April 22, 2013, 03:07:37 PM »
So I took one of my .40S&W magazines that holds 22 rounds out to the woods to pop some caps. I noticed that several times I had a failure of the magazine spring to push the next round up. The magazine is brand new so I don't know if the spring needs to be broken in or maybe there were chemicals or junk inside that binds the follower. Yes, genuine Glock magazines, not knock off Korean or aftermarket stuff.

  Anyone else have this problem?

I have never had a problem with any Glock or Glock magazine, I own a bunch. Have own a bunch  and can't even begin to attempt to count the thousands upon thousands of rounds I have shot through them in 20 plus years. Obviously the magazine would be held suspect first.

What ammo are you using? It could be the rounds are too long and hanging up on the inside of the mag. Another thing to look for is a molding 'burr' causing drag.

Take it apart, look for burrs like Jim said.  Wipe it all down with a clean rag and make sure the spring is not in backwards.

I only shoot factory loads, especially when its .40S&W. These were Federal jacketed hollow points.

:bash: what the hell is the secret with getting the floor plate off? I can do it in a snap on an AR mag or on my H&K. What's so hard about getting the Glock mag apart?

Well, if you don't have a Glock tool, take a finishing nail and put the flat end against the round detent.  Use something to cover the nail point, and push it in, then slide the floorplate forward.
