Here is the short version.
I have been hunting this particular cut the last four years and the Bears, always, always, always come up from the creek bottom. I sit on an old skidder road and glass out to 700 yards. I usually hear them before I see em.
Well this Bear pops out on the bank above and directly behind me at about 30 feet. I grab my gun crank the scope down to 5.5 and put my rifle up trying to decide if the black spot in my scope is the correct black spot or not. I finally get lined up and he is about 6' away when I pull the trigger. He staggers back at the shot I jack another round in and he comes right at me and veers to the side when he sees me shakin in my boots. I shoot again as he passes by at 2' or 3' feet, I didn't even look through the scope just a point and shoot. Complete pass through.... of his right ear. He hooks right around me and piles up about 20 yards down the hill.
