Wolf funding
« on: June 20, 2013, 03:02:56 PM »
Was thinking about getting one the wildlife license plates and heard that the state gives 10% to wolf conservation.  Does anyone know if this is true?

The personalized, or vanity plates are going up this fall $10 to fund wolf reparations to ranchers and private individuals. Nothing to do with wildlife plates unless you have them personalized. I'm getting rid of mine.

When it was originally written, the bill added the extra $10 to the wildlife plates.  Then the house struck the language for the wildlife plates (keeping them same price) and added the $10 to personalized plates in an amendment like Pman mentions.  Old copies of the bill and old articles keep confusing people.

It makes sense to me why hunters wouldn't want any additional funding from plates going towards wolf management since they pay a lot already, but it does make sense for individuals who don't hunt but want to contribute towards wolf management. Not much coin in the grand scheme of things, but it's something.......

They should have the option for wildlife plates that don't contribute to wolf management?

I've said before that a specific "wolf plate" would be a terrible idea. Some poor sucker would drive his Prius with wolf plates up to a rural trailhead at the wrong time of year and come back and find creative changes made to his vehicle.
Which side are you on if neither will claim you?

I wrote Inslee and that *%$# WDFW commissioner and told them what I thought.

It's an extra $10 that is going to the wolf fund. That's on top of the $65 I already pay for my plate.
