Quick Outing
« on: January 02, 2014, 10:12:00 PM »
My Son's and I took a morning hunt in the basin.  We got into some pheasant with three roosters and several hens flushing wild.  One made the mistake of giving me a chance.  As luck would have it, I grabbed the wrong gun last night when I loaded the truck and we ended up with a 12 gauge and 2 twenties.  The problem is that I only had shells for the twenties.  We swapped guns around taking turns going gunless.  I watched a lot of quail fly away, but it was better to watch birds fly than hog a gun all day.  I was pretty happy to have a gun in my hands when the rooster came up in range.  We don't get too many public land roosters and each one is a treat.

Nothing prettier than a good looking rooster and an LC Smith!  What's the specs on your Elsie?   Here's a picture of mine from this week.  20GA Trap Grade with HOT and 26"barrels with ejectors. 1 of only about 100 made in that configuration.

Where the heck did you shoot some bobbies!?
The deer are exactly where you find them, and no where you dont!

I am guessing south of here or in some trial  :chuckle:, maybe both. Great looking guns and birds. Way to go.

I live in GA.  Unfortunately bobs are all we have.  Well, with the occasional grouse and woodcock, but it's basically bob white country.

I'm looking forward to fishinfowlers response.  His Elsie is BEAUTIFUL!!

It's a grade 2 English stock in mint condition.  Rare gun!

Just looked at the Collectors website.  Looks like they made about the same number of Grade 2 20's as they did Trap Grade 20's.  Wish mine had double triggers and longer barrels like his Grade 2.  That's a beautiful gun..

I had a pretty rough day earning my keep and am just now unwinding with a cold one.  Thanks for the compliments on the gun.  It is my "go-to" piece.  It is a 1909 20 gauge 2E with 26" barrels and weighs 5#6oz.

Here are a few more because I like to show it off:
