Finally got my first deer!
« on: September 09, 2014, 01:03:34 PM »
After the last 4 years of hunting, 2nd with a bow I was finally able to connect! woke up Friday morning at about 930 am, went to work at 4 pm, got off at 330 and straight from there out to the woods! Finally got to our spot at about 5 am. my buddy and I decided to head back to the truck and head to another spot down the road. on our way back we walked up on a huge clear cut, my buddy glassed off to the left as I turned to glass off to the right, I instead ranged one of three spikes at 50 yards. Before I had the chance to get all shaky and nervous I drew back, took a deep breath and let it fly. by 730 am we were gutting my first deer! The unfortunate part about it all, when I released he jumped the string pretty hard, ending up hitting him back a bit, but still piled up about 20 yards from where I shot him. all in all, despite the not so great shot, I was beside myself!

Great job.  The first one is the hardest (especially starting out by yourself).  Your experience will grow from here.
