Watched a WIDE old buck bird-dogging a doe for a full hour tonight, never got close enough.  He was in full on chase mode.

Whitetail bucks chasing in the NE.  Killed a 2.5 year old while he was checking scrapes this afternoon.  He was rutted up.
Good job man. Any pics?

Rut is on big time. Watched two different bucks out in the open chasing does as I write this. A car came by and spooked the does, the buck a legal one is like a bird dog running around w/his nose to the ground trying to find them. My wife still has a tag but is kinda burned out on hunting. The doe that he was after is waiting for him on the edge of the tree line. He went the wrong way. :chuckle:

Its like the ground opened up and out crawled the whitetails.   They are everywhere.

Bucks are full bore rutting. For the first time in a dozen years I am sitting here without a hunter and wished I could hunt. I have an archery tag but was too busy to hunt in archery season.  :bash:

Yeah, I was chasing muleys which are stalling in the rut, and whitetails kept running by.  I finally grabbed a set of antlers and banged them together, next thing I know a big one is next to me.  Unfortunately my reflexes are better with a gun than my camera.

Went down the ridge and rattled another one in.   I am kicking myself for not spending more time chasing them instead of trying to get that last minute Muley pic

The buck came back out into the open field, he looked like my old Lab after a bird. He still went the wrong way :chuckle: He will probably get shot from the county road if he's not careful. :bash:

This buck was going nuts Nov 3rd and saw nice 2 point chasing does on Halloween, unfortunately wasn't hunting either day :'( Haven't seen anymore black tail rut activity since then, mostly because I haven't seen any bucks since then! :dunno:

I think they will be. I have 7-8 different bucks on cam in the last 2 weeks and very few with a buck and doe in the same timeframe. My dad and brother have been hunting my land the past couple days and have seen does in each of their spots every time with no bucks chasing. Isn't this time of year usually just getting into the good part of the rut. Usually thanksgiving is prime time I think. Cant wait for late archery!

Watched a forkie yesterday trail a doe and kept lifting his head into the air and doing that "lip cur" taste the air thing.

Lots of activity , great hunting! Got a 4 (5) that wouldn't leave his does side. Thick neck and smelling.
