boat blind suggestions.
« on: October 24, 2014, 07:02:47 AM »
I picked up this boat for free from another forum member a while back and decided to make it into a little duck hunting sneak type boat.  I gave it the rattle can treatment yesterday now I need to know how I should build a blind for it any suggestions?

The paint job is great. I would build some sort of folding frame. On the cheap you can get burlap and zip tie cattails and grass to burlap.

Get 4 fishing pole holders mounted to it (two in the front, two in the back).  Take the pole holders out of the mounts and use the mounts and the oar holders to secure PVC pipe.  Make a frame with a hinged roof.  Buy some camo netting and ziptie to the frame.  You can always spruce it up with cat tails and grass if you want.  Easy up, easy down.  When hunting is done you will have 4 fishing pole holders to go fishing.

:yeah: - but make sure you can easily take down or roll up the camo netting while on the water so you can see while you're under power.  Might have a few pole holders floating around the shop if you stopped by with a few frosty barley pops...

Those boats are some of the most stable on the water....it will make a great boat to stand and shoot from.

OH YEAH....don't forget to post pics when you are done.

I would look at some grey PVC tubing.  A pair of PVC cutters, some glue and you can make a cool frame.  The cross members in the front and back can be drilled and a pin can be used so it will lay down on itself during travel.  We used one similar to hunt out of.  PVC frame.  The green barricade plastic you can get at lowes / Home Depot and zip ties.  Than zip tied grass mats on it and colored those up slightly with marsh grass and dull dead grass paint.  Then let it sit outside in the rain and it darkens it even more.  It will look good.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

Its pretty small boat 8 foot I believe.  Its probably only really suitable for one guy hunting.  I was thinking maybe use it more like a layout boa using that center beam to lay on.  Ill look into some pvc tonight.
