moose random drawing question

I was told that when you put in for the drawing if you don't get drawn you get your money back except for a small portion, is this true or do you not get any back?

You donate your 6 bucks and then you get nothing back.   In the old days you fronted the cash, then got a refund

I am all for going back to fronting the cash...it might weed a few out and make the draw odds better...Give me a better chance of getting at least one OIL tag before I get too old...

I apply for moose in ID for this reason. Atleast I tell myself it weeds some out that do not want to front the tag money.

Couple things that help with Idaho.   Money up front,  NO POINTS, can only apply for ONE OIL per year of application, and cant put in for elk or deer if you put in for an OIL.

Seems like a good place as any to ask another moose question...if I draw moose in wa or idaho and do not fill my tag am I allowed to keep putting in for it ? Is it oil draw or oil to fill the tag ?

Most are OIL draw...

In Washington you cannot apply again if you harvest a moose. I don't know about Idaho.

idaho if you dont harvest you can put in agian after a 1 or 2 year wait cant  remember the wait but you can re-apply if you dont fill your moose tag

i also drew my first try. Imo the idaho draw is 100x better than wa.

Most are OIL draw...

That is not correct for Idaho or Washington.  Once in a lifetime harvest...although mathematically in Washington it is probably functionally correct to say its OIL draw
