I thought slug barrels were rifled for better accuracy? :dunno:

rifled slug barrels are for sabot slugs, smoothbore barrels are for rifled slugs.  clear as mud eh? :chuckle:

if i was buying a dedicated slug barrel, i'd probably opt for the rifled kind for a little longer range.  sabot slugs are a lot more expensive, though.

I hunt the Islands and shots are less that 100 yards. Smooth bore works great with rifled slugs and shoot true for me. Plus I like to save money on ammo.

I have only been shooting rifled slugs through my rifled slug barrel.  Shoot pretty damn accurate despite it made for sabot slugs.  Sabots were close to $15 per box of 5 shells.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

have you noticed any issues with fouling when shooting rifled slugs through a rifled barrel?

Thanks for the info. I've been considering a slug barrel for my mossberg 835.
