Colockum Zoo
« on: September 14, 2018, 09:54:23 AM »
It has been 3 years since I’ve been in the Colockum but with cow season opening this weekend a couple buddies wanted to make the trip and I volunteered to tag along.

I’m excited to get back there but I’m expecting a zoo. Seems like like everyone I know is making the trip this weekend.

Yup, its 206's favorite hang out.  Make sure you have a winch and cable to help the pavement princesses powerstrokes out of the ditch.  Pack extra designer brand camo, bring at least 2 packs (preferably Busch in the orange can) to toss out the window, and slam your door before bugling 10ft off the road. :IBCOOL:

Hopefully they don't push them to the next country like they have for the last couple years , It will be cool checking my game cameras and seeing hunters loaded on ATV hunting ,It is ashame what I have seen up there on my cameras,

Yes indeed it's one of my favorites, but I don't agree with your way of hunting.

Wow. Great attitude.

All in sarcasm, I don't hunt that way. I feel sorry for the few Americans trapped other there and the crap they have to deal with.  About 10 years ago I tagged along with a buddy from Wenatchee during the ML season up there and thought I was in a Civil War reenactment.

You guys could be right. I've never set foot in the Colockum. I prefer to invade other parts of the state when I bugle out the window of the ol' Prius. But then again, I'm in the northeast part of the 425 and don't venture into the 206 very often either.

Your doing it wrong! That is unethical, sneaking up on them in a Prius that they can't hear.

You need to be driving your massive Diesel Dually with the loudest exhaust you can find, or you are not a true road hunter sportsman.
The elk there have been conditioned to run towards the sound of a 5 inch Magna Flow. Especially in the dark before sunrise, when you hunt through all the camping areas.

What kind of animals does it have? :dunno:

Lions and tigers and bears. And maybe 1 elk, but it's a 1x2 so nothing to see here.

Been hunting the same spots for 30 plus years and the last several have been bad, go up end of August and see lots of elk and when we come up to hunt they are pushed down low and over to the winter range, Last year saw 2 cows and one big bull, the herd that is always below camp has not been there the last couple of years, Game cameras are nice to have
