How did this happen?
« on: February 01, 2019, 11:25:51 AM »
Went out hunting with this rifle this year a few times and on one of the trips it rained pretty hard while I was walking back to the truck. I got back to the truck and noticed that the finish/film from the hydro-dip was flaking off. Obviously I was not happy about this as I haven't had the rifle for even a year and this was the first wet weather it had been in. What was even worse is that I noticed a crack up front in the stock!!!!  :bash: the crack seems bizarre to me because I don't remember falling or anything that would cause the crack. I have no idea how the crack would also be in that location and direction. Anyone have any ideas how a stock could crack like this?

Is that the same gun you had another problem with? Send it back.

Is that barrel floated?

Odd place for a crack. Is it close to where the sling swivels is drilled?
I can’t see a drop causing that, looks more like a manufactured flaw from the pics.

It might just be the picture, but in the pic looking down on the barrel, it looks like the gap space between the barrel and the stock is varied on the right side.
Either way with the peeling, the crack, and your previous issues, might be time to return it.

I had my weatherby ultralight stock crack on either side of the swivel stud so I ground each crack so I could repair it and found out there was an air bubble inside which caused the crack, maybe your has the same issue? Wierd spot for a crack though

That was my thought too..maybe recess hole for swivel nut too small? Torqued too tight? Too loose and too much bouncing on the sling? Anyhow, yeah..send it back👍
