Apply in December, results in February WY elk is January. ID is ridiculous with their deadline and results some of the controlled hunts start in August thanks a lot for the time to plan. I have to submit vacation before the idaho deadline for August hunts in case I draw.Sadly, WY will be the worst starting next year. A Jan deadline to submit and results won't be out until late June. Worst of both worlds.

What they have done is leave the Elk app period as it was; Jan 1 - Jan 31, moved the change date to May 8, and moved the results date to coincide with the Deer/Antelope draw. So, if you wanted an early app date, it's still there, you just won't be getting results until June.I was told WYOGA convinced them to just move the results date. Seems like a good way to make sure your clients don't apply to other states."

I thought they were doing away with the January 31 deadline and I just assumed it was going to be the same as the deer and antelope deadline. I'm glad they kept the earlier date. But it will sure make it hard to plan a possible Wyoming elk hunt around other hunts a guy might draw in other states. Helps to keep draw odds from getting much worse though. So there is that.

The whole reason I liked the early dates was because the results would be out before other app dates and thus you could adjust plans based on what you drew...

Later results makes it easier to set tag numbers after winter bio counts. I think I recall reading that anyways
