Well yesterday evening I ran into the old unicorn buck and after taking a real good look at him I decided to stick to my rule of never pass on any mature buck.  I'm not much of an inches guy but I do enjoy big high scoring bucks as much as anyone. But it was obvious that this buck was old and well into regression so I decided it was time to fill my tag. Very happy to harvest him and no regrets or shooters remorse even thoughI had my hopes of notching my tag on one of the larger heavy 4x4's in this area.

Sweet buck! Any more pictures?

Thanks. I had passed on 10 other bucks after hunting the same area for 5 days . I was seeing alot of pre-rut action but the full blown caos of the peak rut has yet to happen .

I apologize on the pics best I can do with a cell phone balancing on my EXO mountain gear pack

I haven’t seen a single deer in a day and a half in the green river watershed. Still early.

Look at miles 19 - 21 it might have changed over the years but that has always been a good area for deer.

Was only in there for a day, but couldn't figure why it would be in the "Quality Deer" category. Never saw a deer and didn't see much sign of deer. Some rubs in a few areas and some droppings here and there, but that's it. Looking at the harvest stats seems to show the same. Looks like folks are shooting the first buck they see, if they see one.

Hunted green river watershed it was a tough hunt. Seen 14 deer in five and a half days. Seen 3 bucks two medium size two points and one nice sized two point that my step son shot on Thursday. He was locked on a doe in the timber. Seen lots of fresh rubs just not a lot of deer movement. This weekend would have been great.

Yes this weekend would have been great. Hunted in the green river watershed for 4.5 days. Seen about 20 deer and 5 bucks. Nothing big. My son shot a medium size 2x3 on Thursday afternoon.  Seen an old timer that killed a pig. Think only 3 of the 10 buck tags were filled as of yesterday.

Nice job man. Way to get it done.

According to the board in the guard shack only two bucks were taken out. You guys saw five more bucks than we did. We saw a lot of elk and two small bulls, nothing I’d want to use a quality tag on if I waited years for that elk tag if I had it. Oh well, this is how it goes sometimes.

How big of buck did the old timer kill pretty sure I talked to him Sunday in there?

The place looked like it held some nice animals but the setup doesn’t seem conducive to hunting them. Certainly not to picking and choosing.
We were in and out though so only saw some of it. Looked like a fun place to be in September.
