Explain this to me ( Gun Transfer)
« on: January 05, 2020, 04:39:06 PM »
Went to pick up a pistol today , filled out all the paperwork,  gave them my Driver's License and Permit . Gave me the total and I paid it . Said they would call me when it's ready.  Is this some I1639 BS ?

And they’re going to try the same thing now coming up with ammunition

Not sure but if it is this is the reason to reload.

Yeah after I reread it I deleted the post because I wasn’t seeing what I had heard about in the text of it
Regardless you are correct I should probably learn how to do that myself

Yes
I thought the 10 day wait was only for " AR type" rifles ? FFL said something about the FBI sucked at doing their job,  so they turned it over to local LEO'S  to do the background check.  Does the 1639 class do away with the wait ?

Here is a copy and paste from sporting systems,

ANY semi-automatic rifle requires proof of training for i-1639 compliance. There are no exemptions for military, law enforcement, CPL holder, or instructors. We offer this class free of charge on our website, please complete the class and bring this certificate to the store with you. After July 1, 2019, all semi-automatic rifles, lowers, frames and pistols are ALL sent to law enforcement for approval, even with a current Concealed Pistol License. Be prepared for a 2-4 week approval time to pick up your firearm.

I was at Coastal store, they confirmed the mess on pistol transfer

Wife has been waiting for 2 plus weeks now and almost 10 days for me on a hand gun.  We both have concealed permits.  This is the state of WA saying that the FBI was not doing a good background checks but that is what they use for shotguns, lever or bolt actions. Pretty sure lowers are not included.  That I believe was found out because a lower is a other or a part.  The training pertains to any semi auto long gun and it still has the same waiting  period as a handgun.  No waiting for shotguns, lever or bolt actions

This isn't really s waiting period this is just how long it takes the local agency to do the back ground check.  When i was buying my gun they were saying that even if you lived in some city the local le is shuffling them to the county SO.

Wasn't there something with the previous background checks  that if it didnt come back within 3 days then the FFL could legally transfer it to you ( or something like that ) ?

I just read a bunch of the new law, washington voters have no idea what they bought into.

RCW 9.41.092
Licensed dealer deliveries—Background checks.
(1) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter and except for semiautomatic assault rifles under subsection (2) of this section, a licensed dealer may not deliver any firearm to a purchaser or transferee until the earlier of:
(a) The results of all required background checks are known and the purchaser or transferee (i) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal or state law and (ii) does not have a voluntary waiver of firearm rights currently in effect; or
(b) Ten business days have elapsed from the date the licensed dealer requested the background check. However, for sales and transfers of pistols if the purchaser or transferee does not have a valid permanent Washington driver's license or state identification card or has not been a resident of the state for the previous consecutive ninety days, then the time period in this subsection shall be extended from ten business days to sixty days.
(2) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, a licensed dealer may not deliver a semiautomatic assault rifle to a purchaser or transferee until ten business days have elapsed from the date of the purchase application or, in the case of a transfer, ten business days have elapsed from the date a background check is initiated.

My understanding is "Lowers" are not included here, but I'm sure they'll be added later. So if you want an AR type rifle in the future, get some lowers now and build them out later.

What you guys need to do is get your family, all your friends, neighbors and other gun friendly VOTERS to vote on all initiatives relating to gun and/or ammo control.  Also read the initiative carefully as some are worded very deceptive.  I-1639 passed by 70% in Grant County only because of the wording.  People thought they were voting against it but in fact they were voting for it.

Otherwise in the future we will end up non-gun owners.

:yeah:

Better yet buy 80% lowers - and have them mailed to your door.
