fall vs spring behavior
« on: May 02, 2020, 10:35:17 AM »
real quick question. i have a spot where i like to hunt mule deer every fall. each time i go, i always at least see turkey sign, and in the last couple years, ive actually seen and interacted with turkeys in the fall down around the orchards, but i rarely actually see the birds on public land. ive never hunted turkeys there before, so i dont know their normal spring behavior in the area (and now due to this whole corona virus thing, i dont really have much time to get out this year).

how does their spring behavior differ from fall behavior? would it be a mistake to think i might find them further away from the orchards this time of year, and possibly on public land?

Flocks are way more broken up in the spring time because they are breeding and nesting. I shoot birds on public land every year in the spring time, some of these areas do not hold any birds during the fall/winter months.
